The Spanish Association against Cancer in Navarra presented this morning at Pamplona City Hall the 10th March Against Cancer in Pamplona, ​​which will take place on Sunday, June 16 at 11 a.m. departing from the Citadel. The mayor of Pamplona, ​​Joseba Asirón and the president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer, Juan Franco Pueyo, participated in the presentation of the March.

Joseba Asirón has encouraged all citizens to participate in the march as in every edition. He wanted to emphasize that this year’s activities will be held throughout the day in the citadel and the great variety that exists between them.

For his part, Juan Franco wanted to highlight that the Spanish Association Against Cancer leads the “Everyone against cancer” initiative with the aim of exceeding 70% survival in 2030. Currently, thanks to research, the survival rate in men it is 55.3% and in women it is 61.7%.

Activities during the morning in the Citadel

In the 10th March Against Cancer, the Association will offer attendees and the population of Pamplona in general several activities throughout the morning, in addition to the traditional non-competitive race where anyone can participate. The Association wanted the Water, provided by the Commonwealth of Pamplona. Throughout the day there will be installed, within the Citadel, a Water Tavern point for consumption by participants in the March and their companions or visitors to the activities.

In addition, throughout the day there will be sales of natural juices and solidarity skewers.

The Commonwealth of Pamplona will also install a set of recycling inflatables as it is an event that has eliminated the generation of waste.

The Spanish Association Against Cancer leads the “Everyone against cancer” initiative with the aim of exceeding 70% survival by 2030. Currently, thanks to research, the survival rate in men is 55.3% and in women of 61.7%.

In 2030, the Association launched the largest call for aid in its history: ‘AECC 70% Survival Challenge’, of 10 million euros, to contribute to the research of those cancers that have a low or stagnant survival rate, that is, less than 30%.

Currently, the Association is the social and private entity that allocates the most funds to cancer research and supports the most researchers. In total, it has an investment of 114 million euros allocated to 603 research grants in development to increase survival in different types of cancer. In 2023, 29.4 million were awarded to 233 new grants.

Thanks to the support of Spanish society, the Spanish Association Against Cancer has been promoting cancer research for more than 50 years, trying to respond to the great cancer challenges of our country and promoting the talent of researchers who today lead cancer research. inside and outside our borders.
