These are the hospitals and health centres that are closing this summer in the RegionRICARD CUGAT

HeCCOO considers the provision of professionals in the hospitals and in primary care centres in the affected health areas. The union denounces the decrease in surgical activity during the summer period, which “has been implemented routinely by the Murcian Health Service”, alleging a lack of professionals, especially doctors.

“The lack of foresight on the part of the Administration It also causes, in areas I, II and III and a shortage of professionals to assist the entire population,” they lamented in a statement.

According to the union, “hospital emergency services and primary care centres have not been reinforced with sufficient staff to cope with the healthcare needs of such a large population.” As a result, they claim, the workload of healthcare workers has increased, which leads to “staff exhaustion.”

In the same way, the Federation of Health and Social ServicesIt is considered that this lack of foresight also means that rural or less populated areas are left without health resources, having to travel to other centres to receive medical assistance.

For its part, the Ministry of Health points out that Of the 175 clinics that remain open in the Region of Murcia, “only 11 are affected by this year’s temporary reorganization during the month of July.” “Last year, 15 centres changed their opening hours during the month of July,” they say, adding that “this reorganisation does not affect any health centre.”

The Community remembers that “The SMS works in collaboration with professionals from all areas of health so that the reorganisation affects the smallest number of centres, despite the shortage of doctors that exists throughout Spain and for which the Ministry has not provided solutions.”

During the months of July to September the SMS will have more than 5,900 additional professionals to guarantee healthcare throughout the Region And, as every year, the activity in the health centres will be reorganised to attend to the population with all the guarantees. “To this end, the SMS will provide all the necessary resources despite the inaction of the Minister of Health in solving the shortage of doctors that affects all of Spain,” they say.
