The city of Cádiz will celebrate this Wednesday, June 5 and Thursday, June 6, the Health and Wellbeing Promotion Fair organized by the City Council of Cádiz and the Junta de Andalucía with the collaboration of the Provincial Council of Cádiz and which will take place during these days in the surroundings of the Spain Square with the participation of administrations, associations and social entities involved in health in general.

The opening ceremony of the event will take place this Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Plaza de España in front of the monument of the Constitution of 1812, and after it a floral offering will be made on the occasion of National Organ and Tissue Donor Day .

The event has the motto ‘For a healthy, sustainable and happy future’ and will take place on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Councilor for Health, Gloria Bazán, explained that the objective of the Health Fair is to promote health and healthy habits, covering topics such as nutrition, aging and care of the elderly, prevention of sedentary lifestyle, social and health care. , adapted sports, cardio protection, mental health, pharmaceutical care and health technology among others.

“This is an important event with which we want to promote health, healthy living habits and physical exercise, and we have very active participation from all the social entities of Cádiz and the Bahía de Cádiz Health District. – La Janda that will also offer training.”

The Health Fair will take place in three spaces around the Plaza de España, with a first area facing away from the Constitution monument where the City Council has set up 20 tents that will be used by different associations and entities to offer information and various activities, and which are added to other stands that will also be installed in the area by the social entities that participate in the event. A second area will be organized by the Municipal Environment Delegation on the north side of the Plaza de España, and a third, in front of the Constitution monument, will host a stage where the presentation of the event and some activities will take place.

Wednesday Activities

Wednesday’s session will be aimed mainly at young people. During that day, information and dissemination on healthy living in the tents will be offered by the participating entities, as well as sustainable food and environmental education activities in the Environment area. There will also be two sessions (from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.) of the Red Cross’ ‘If you know it, do it’ dynamic, which will use virtual reality and will address healthy living habits in youth.

Along with this, two sessions will also be offered at the same times of an adapted physical-sports activity directed by the Cádiz CF Foundation and CD Fútbol Cádiz, and a Road Safety Education circuit by the Local Police.

The little ones will also be able to enjoy two sessions of the puppet show ‘Alejandra, healthier than a pear’ by the company Pequenos Duendes, which will take place in the space located in the Plaza de España on the corner of 12 San Germán Street. :00 to 12:45 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Wednesday’s day will end with a concert by Los Peraltos, a group from Cádiz with ten years of experience that covers pop-rock from the 80s and 90s in English and Spanish. The concert will be held in the space located in Plaza de España in front of the monument.

That Wednesday there will also be other activities such as the march to the Market by the schoolchildren to pick fruit, different games, a percussion workshop, a health self-care workshop, a basic life support workshop with telematic support, and another sun prevention and vaping.

Thursday’s activities

On Thursday morning, information and dissemination of healthy living will continue in the tents and from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. there will also be social and health care activities and manual workshops for the elderly.

Thursday’s session will focus especially on the elderly and will start with a workshop on healthy aging from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., which includes a walk with trekking poles, in the area of ​​Plaza España on the corner of Argüelles. Right there later, from 11:00 to 12:00, the conscious eating workshop ‘Organize your plate’ will be held, and there will be a mural about old age and loneliness. For its part, in the tent areas there will be a social health care activity and craft workshops starting at 12:00 p.m. organized by Social Services.

The scheduled sports activities and a Cádiz CF Foundation stand will be located in the stage area on those days. The Health Club-EA will offer functional gymnastics for seniors at 10:00 a.m. and a dance session at 11:00 a.m. In the same area, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., active aging will be addressed by the Clover of Hearts Association and, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., the assessment of physical condition adapted to the elderly by from UCA Grupo Move It. That day, relaxation workshops will also take place in the Provincial Council building (in the classroom between homelands), lasting 10 to 15 minutes from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., led by COP-AO professionals.

Conferences at the Provincial Council

For its part, the Cloister Hall of the Provincial Council of Cádiz will host different conferences organized by the Bahía de Cádiz – La Janda Health District. Wednesday morning will be the first at 11:45 a.m. with the title ‘Digital Health’, by Carmen Fidalgo, pediatrician and UGC director of CS La Merced. It will be followed by ‘Natural breastfeeding: Health from the beginning’ at 12:30 p.m. by Conrado Santander, midwife of CS la Paz and CS Puerta Tierra; and the morning session will end with the conference ‘Mental health in childhood and adolescence’ at 1:15 p.m. by Auxiliadora Martín, AFEMEN psychologist.

Three other conferences will also take place in the afternoon. The first will be ‘Healthy eating. Energy drinks’ at 6:00 p.m. by Amadeo Redondo, Raquel Guerra and Pablo Lloret, pediatrician from CS Loreto and school nurses from CS La Paz and CS La Laguna, respectively. Then, at 6:45 p.m., ‘Nutrition in the elderly’ by Felipe Mozo, from the Official College of Pharmacists of Cádiz, will take place; and ends the afternoon with ‘Invisible health emergency. Thursday’s day will begin with ‘New challenge of educating in the TRICS’ at 10:15 a.m. by Valeria Gil, social worker of Proyecto Hombre; and will be followed by ‘Food and Mental Health’ at 11:00 a.m. by psychologist Patrizia Marruffui; ‘Live the climacteric’ at 11:45 am by Isabel Muñoz and Juan Pedro Guerrero, nurse at CS La Merced and family doctor at CS Mentidero respectively; and ‘Living will.
